Chancellor Search Update

In January, I announced that the Board of Trustees would convene a Chancellor's Search Committee and asked for recommendations for faculty, staff, students and members of the public to serve on this advisory committee. Following a public Request for Proposals process, the board also picked an independent executive search firm - Community College Search Services - to assist in the Chancellor's search process.

Peralta Budget Update

Response to State budget cuts

California's community colleges - unlike K-12 schools that receive funding based on attendance - receive funding based on an allocation from the State Budget and are given an enrollment target. To address the needs of our East Bay community amidst the economic downturn, the Peralta Board of Trustees made a commitment last year to keep educational access open for our community by providing classes to over 3,000 additional students above our funded target.
